Your winter preparedness checklist.

  1. Make sure you've been in for service in the last 6 months. If you haven't, call us at 888-775-7750 to schedule service right away.
  2. Check your battery. The cold can be hard on your battery, making sure your battery is in good shape is especially critical in the winter.
  3. Make sure the washer fluid in your vehicle is rated for the winter.
  4. Check your wiper blades by making sure they are not cracked or broken.
  5. Make sure your defrost system is working.
  6. Check your tire pressure and tread depth.
    1. Refer to your owner's manual for proper tire pressure for your vehicle.
    2. To check your tread depth, put a penning into the tread of your tires with Lincoln's head down. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, it is time to get new tires.
  7. Keep your gas tank at least 1/4 to 1/2 filled at all times.
  8. Make sure your winter emergency kit is stocked for the winter.
    1. Snowbrush/scrapper
    2. Kitty litter/salt
    3. Shovel
    4. Flashlight (and extra batteries)
    5. Blankets
    6. Hat and gloves
    7. First aid kit
    8. Cell phone battery charger with a hand crank
    9. Jumper cables
    10. Pencil and paper - If you get stuck and call for help, you may need to write new numbers down. Use a pencil because it won't freeze.
